Anxiety support for children and teens
Support for children and teens dealing with ongoing worry, school-related anxiety, or separation anxiety — practical strategies for home and school, not just reassurance.
Early signs to look out for
What families often notice first.
Every child is different — this isn't a checklist for self-diagnosis, just what commonly prompts a conversation with us.
- Frequent stomach aches, headaches, or nausea with no clear medical cause, especially on school mornings
- Reluctance or refusal to go to school, or repeated requests to leave once there
- Difficulty separating from a parent at drop-off, bedtime, or even in another room at home
- Excessive worry about things going wrong, being judged, or making mistakes
- Trouble falling or staying asleep, or needing a parent present to settle
- Avoiding specific places, activities, or social situations in a way that seems out of proportion to the actual risk
How Special Minds helps
A plan, not a placement.
Parent coaching
Practical, specific strategies for school mornings, separations, and worry spirals — grounded in behavioural approaches that hold up outside a session room.
LSA support in the classroom
When anxiety is affecting your child's ability to stay in class or take part in schoolwork, a one-to-one LSA can offer steady, in-the-moment support.
Coordination with your child's school
We help you and the school agree on consistent routines and expectations, so the approach at home and the approach in class reinforce each other instead of pulling in different directions.
Referral alongside clinical support
If therapy such as CBT is the right next step, we'll help you understand what to look for and coordinate our support alongside it — none of this needs to wait for a diagnosis.
Support in Dubai & the UAE
Local, practical, no waitlists in the dark.
We work with children and teens across Dubai whose anxiety shows up mostly at school, at bedtime, or around separation from a parent. Most families start with a short call to talk through what you're seeing and where support would help most.
Frequently asked
Questions parents ask us.
- Is this the same as therapy for anxiety?
- Not quite — our core work is coaching, classroom support, and school coordination. Where clinical therapy like CBT is the right fit, we'll help you find and work alongside the appropriate specialist.
- My child refuses to go to school. Can you help with that specifically?
- Yes — this is one of the more common reasons families come to us, and it usually involves a mix of in-class support, school coordination, and a clear plan for mornings at home.
- Does my child need a formal diagnosis before we start?
- No. Support can begin while you're still figuring out whether a diagnosis is needed, or alongside one once it's confirmed.
- Is separation anxiety something you help with, or is that just normal for young children?
- Some separation worry is typical at certain ages. What we help you assess is whether it's intense, prolonged, or disruptive enough to warrant a more structured approach.
- Will our insurance cover this?
- It depends on your insurer and the specifics of your policy — once we understand what your child needs, we'll help you work out what your plan is likely to cover.
